Retreat Schedule

Monday’s Retreat Agenda:

The goal for the retreat is to begin a yearlong professional dialog on the potential for tapping the emergent communication technologies to enhance good teaching practice by engaging participants in live and digital dialog.

Schedule of Activities

7:45 – 8:15 Light breakfast

8:15 – 8:40 Summer Check-in

8:40 – 8:55 Introduction of the Day.

Dialog A (9:00 – 10:00): What constitutes good teaching?

  • Goal: Provide a forum for teachers to talk about what constitutes good teaching. The group may work towards consensus or simply exchange ideas.

Break (10:00 – 10:15)

Dialog B (10:15 – 11:00): Digital Learning Case Study

  • Goal: Provide a forum to talk about the experience of digital learning.

Break (11:00 – 11:15)

Dialog C (11:15 – 12:30): Technology and Good Teaching

  • Goal: Provide a forum to talk about using technology to promote good teaching.

12:30 – 1:30 Lunch and Campus Stroll

1:30 – 2:15 What’s next?

  • Goal: Explain plans to support faculty use of technology.

2:15 – 3:00 Evaluation

  • Goal: Gather data on usefulness of the day and on ideas for faculty support.
