About
This Good Teaching Blog is a vehicle for a conversation about good teaching and technology started by theĀ faculty at small school in the northeast. The conversation began at opening meetings in August, 2007 and will continue throughout the school year. We invite comments from all educators, technologists, and students.

Looking forward to listening in!
Just trying to brown nose!
What are the prizes for good user names?
now…about that tea….
I think the very idea that I figured it out this far deserves a VERY big prize.
I think the very fact I got this far deserves a VERY big prize….
Why does my comment need moderation? Is someone saying I’m an extremist?
What kind of prizes are we talking about here?

So where is the tea? and how about some cookies and a wing back chair….
So far this week I have 1) signed up for and used the laptop cart in Emery; 2) tried to sign up for the laptop cart, but been shut out by Jonah; tried to sign up and use the computer lab, but been shut out by Mary Stockmeyer; so used the Library computers; and therefore 3) for the first time saved students’ work on my new Waynflete flash drive.
What do I take away from this? The laptops are wonderful, easy to use, and the printer responds without issues (of course, Page was there as I did all of the above). Clearly, however, one cart is not enough for all of the classrooms in Emery. It may be time to consider putting laptops in every classroom….
The 9th grade flashdrives are a wonderful idea. Why have we not issued them to all students in 6-12? The 8th graders, working on an essay today, had either to email me their drafts or else I had to save them on my flashdrive. This was cumbersome and time consuming.
Earlier this week I posted an extra credit assignment for the Seniors on the Waynflete website. Exactly one student (thank you Ally Koss) read it. I suggest we all work on ways to get students to log on to this regularly.
As an avowed Luddite, this week has been challenging but illuminating – and it’s only Wednesday! Thank you, Lowell, for forcing me to do this….
Greetings!
This year, I have noticed more of the students are using first class for interpersonal communicaiton.
